Proofreading and Copyediting for Authors and Business Owners

Your Reputation Is What Matters

You work hard, and you're great at what you do. Your work should be judged on its own merit, not on typos, misspellings, or grammar mistakes.  Attracting customers, clients, or viewers is about more than just pitching your services; it's about projecting a professional, polished image -- an image that goes beyond words.  Partnering with me will free you up to focus on what you do best -- growing your business -- while allowing me to uphold the quality of your professional image.

Even the best of us can miss errors after spending an extended amount of time with our own material.  (Proofreaders included; I always have my work proofread too!)  I will carefully check for any errors that might have been overlooked so that your content is accurate, error-free, and professionally polished.  I know the mechanics of language so you don't have to.

Please contact me for a custom quote.

The rates listed below will give you a general idea, but rates will vary greatly depending on content, format, and turnaround time needed. Package discounts are available, and I will proofread business cards or another small item for free with any package.

Proofreading: generally $30-35 per hour

  • Proofreading includes looking at surface problems such as spelling, punctuation, minor grammatical issues, and formatting.

  • Proofreading is the last step before publication. As such, a print-ready copy, or “proof”, should be sent for proofreading.

  • I can proofread in a variety of formats, including PDF, Google Docs, Pages for Mac, and MS Word using Track Changes.

Copyediting: generally $40-45 per hour

  • Copyediting is a more intensive look at your content and consists of everything included in proofreading as well as organization, continuity, word usage, and consistency.

  • Copyediting is done on an almost-final draft.

  • I can edit in a variety of formats, including PDF, Google Docs, Pages for Mac, and MS Word using Track Changes.

Availability

Please note: I am generally available to work on weekends and holidays WITH advance notice.  Otherwise, the following apply: Weekends and major holidays are not included in normal turnaround times.  Jobs sent Friday night, Saturday, Sunday, or on a holiday will be considered received the next business day, although I will confirm my availability and receipt of the job immediately.  If you need the job completed by the next business day, Rush or Expedited rates will apply.

Turnaround

Turnaround rates are based on Mountain Standard Time and will be calculated using the time stamp of my email acknowledging receipt of the job.  Jobs received after 8 p.m. will be logged in as received at 8 a.m. the next business day as the basis for turnaround rates unless prior arrangements have been made.

Discounts

If you refer another client to me, you get 10% off your next job (standard turnaround time, up to one hour's charge) once I receive payment for your referral’s first job.  There is no limit to how many people you can refer!

Payments

Invoices are sent out on the 1st and 16th of every month.  Payment is expected within 15 calendar days unless prior arrangements have been made.  New or one-time clients are billed upon completion of the first job, and payment is expected within 7 days.  Payments not received within the time frame are subject to a late fee of 10% per month.
